There are two crucial aspects of the healing program that are based in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda. Although these medical sciences are thousands of years old, their application to modern experience is invaluable.
Of primary importance in any treatment program is detoxification. Unlike a detox program in a conventional rehabilitation center, where the main objective is to safely withdraw from an addictive substance, detox here refers to a deep internal cleansing of various toxins that have accumulated in one’s body over one’s lifetime. These toxins may be chemical, environmental, dietary and/or emotional. They may be lodged in the blood, internal organs, joints, connective tissue, or even at the level of cellular memory. The 2000 year old science of Ayurveda provides a comprehensive cleansing program to effectively remove these toxins that serve as obstacles to one’s complete healing.
Based on Dr. Hall’s 15 years of experience in the health field, she has integrated into the traditional Ayurvedic cleansing program other nutritional and herbal supplements that further assist the elimination of toxins such as heavy metals and environmental pollutants.
As one’s cleansing program nears completion, one’s rejuvenation therapy begins. Oftentimes patients undergoing cleansing may be left feeling weakened or depleted due to the strenuous internal work required in the detox process. Ayurveda teaches that cleansing is always followed by rejuvenative herbal medicines to tonify and bring new vitality into one’s system. Nutritional supplements to restore the internal environment in the digestive tract are also crucial to insure proper assimilation and digestive health. Just as any dirty fabric can not be dyed to a different color properly, a toxic internal environment can not receive and assimilate tonifying and strengthening medicines in an optimal way. Thus the cleansing and rejuvenation go hand in hand in order for both to be effective.
Of equal importance to the cleansing/rejuvenation aspect of healing is the function acupuncture treatment serves to keep one’s internal energy properly moving. Traditional Chinese Medicine teaches that one of the most significant causes of pain and disease is the blockage or stagnation of energy in the body. Acupuncture is extremely effective at targeting specific sites and patterns of blocked energy and restoring it to a healthy and balanced flow. Whether one’s liver is stressed because of excess drugs and alcohol, or one’s adrenals are taxed due to stress, imbalanced energy flow in these organs can be harmonized using acupuncture. Treatments may also be aimed at removing energetic blockages due to emotional and physical trauma. Patterns in our nervous system locked in place in response to traumatic experience can be released, so that we can return to the peaceful state that is the essence of our true being. In this way all aspects of one’s healing program are made more effective by ensuring a free flow of energy in the body.
